Some things are not easily answered.

I got an email from my buddy this week.  It was a really good thought and I felt like sharing with you.

This is the kind of thing that looks simple at first, but when you really look at it, you realize it is much deeper.  We all have to struggle with these questions.  So here it is…….

“When you pray and end up feeling worse than before is it because you are mad that all your problems didn’t go away? Or that you are mad that sometimes God wants you to suffer the way you are suffering because he is teaching you?”

Pretty deep stuff, huh?

So, what do you think?  Does this challenge you?  It did me.

peace.out.

I’m a sinner!!!!

Last week as I was preaching thru Luke (again) we came across the prayer of a blind beggar (Luke 18.39) that said, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
It reminded me of a prayer that Jesus said a tax collector prayed back in chapter 17…”God, have mercy on me a sinner!”

It got me thinking… the only prayer we really should ever pray is, “God have mercy! I’m a sinner!” I mean, when you think about it, we can never earn anything from God. We do not deserve anything good from God. At the end of the day, our righteousness is like “filthy rags.”

So, as we enter into a new year…a new decade…let’s remind ourselves that we really aren’t all that great! We are sinners! And let’s learn to pray with an attitude of humility and desperation.

When we pray, may we pray…….”God, have mercy on me!”
