I’ve been watching a local church here in OKC on TV every sunday morning. It is interesting to say the least.
I’m not one to point fingers and rip on some other guy or the way he is doing church…i know it takes all kinds…but when you see something so heinous it just makes me so mad that i gotta say something!
This guy has a one track mind. Money! His whole deal is about money. How God has given him a lot of money (2 weeks ago all he talked about is how God gave him a house in Oak Tree Country Club, and how God gave him faith for a Mercedes), how God wants to give you money, how Christians should have lots of money to proove that they are Christians and that God is real! I’m not joking! I wish I had the video.
This last week was the clincher. One of my favorite quotes of the sermon was, “If it’s in your soul, then it’s in your pocket book.”
Excuse me, i gotta go vomit!!!
Ok, i’m back.
I am so sick of “Christian” tv and radio guys. It is almost always and exclusively about how God wants to give you money, a new car, and a new house. This is absolute heresy! God is not about you! He is about Himself…glorifying Himself…bringing credit and glory and praise to His name and His name alone!!!!!!! How have we gone so far away? It is sickening.
At the end of this guys “sermon” he began screaming, whooping, and hollerin’ and getting everyone in the church to chant with him one of the “greatest spiritual truths of all time”… “Money, cometh to me, now!”
yep. you read that right… “Money, cometh to me, now!” I could not belive it! My wife and i just sat there in our room, getting ready to go to church, and we were floored! Could this really be happening? It was a joke! Actually, it was not a joke. He was serious and his followers were loving every bit of it, chanting it over and over.
Can i just say this…It is getting harder and harder to admit that i am a christian…or especially that i am a pastor. Guys like this are an embarrassment to themselves, to the church, and most of all to God!
I heard a pastor say the other day (in a meeting that i was in with other local pastors) that God has chosen to glorify US so that He will be glorified. He was trying to defend and justify why he was driving a brand new 50K to 80K doller Mercedes! Let me just say this…God does not need to glorify you, nor will He, to get glory! He is about giving Himself credit for everything He does, and He has a tendency to get really ticked if you or I get any of His credit!
So, maybe we should change the chant…Maybe it should be more like… “Repentance, come to me, now!”
Just a thought.
peace!
